DENR holds 16th Saringaya Awards; recognizes 9 recipients
The 16th Saringaya Awards of DENR acknowledged 9 awardees at Casa Blanca Convention Center, Legazpi City on the month of June as a part of the celebration of environment month as one of its culminating activities.
Ror over 20 nominees, 9 qualified for the different categories namely Energy Development Corporation, Bacon- Manito Project, Aboitis Power Renewables Inc. Tiwi Facility, Phil. Geothermal Production Co. Inc., Peoples Organization Category and Tao Kalikasan Foundation of the Philippines, Inc. of Camarines Norte. Two other recipients are from the local government units, LGU Naga and LGU Enro Sorsogon, Saru Academy with Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges.
Also, Joshua Guinto of Camarines Norte and Abner Avisola of Camarines Sur, are awardees who belong in the individual category.
The criteria for choosing the awardees are strictly observed by the DENR. They make sure that the nominees would be competent in terms of environmental protection, conservation, rehabilitation, which then imposed to environmental activities and planning.
Hence, sustainability of the program and environmental impact are part of the criteria that would cater the public involvement.
Saringaya Awards is an annual celebration of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for the credit of any individual or organization for the continuous rehabilitation of the environment.
