Legazpi to hold Mayon Triathlon
In celebration of the 25th Ibalong Festival, Mt. Mayon Triathlon 2016 will be held at Legazpi City Boulevard on August 14, 2016.
The Mayon Triathlon 2016 is one of the most scenic races in the country for this year celebration.
“This is an international event majority of the elite players and also one of the highlights of Ibalong Festival 2016 in celebrating its 25th years of existence which is the longest socio in terms of cultural festival”, City Tourism Head, Antonio Fernandez Reyes Jr. said.
The triathlon will boast the scenic view of the famous Mayon Volcano. It will remind the strength the volcano is hiding inside waiting for the right time to prove its capacity. Just like the athletes who waited for the race to show the best of their best.
Participants will start with the 1.5 kilometer swim along the Legazpi Boulevard, followed by the fast and furious 40 kilometer cycling race along the dynamic provincial landscape up to the city proper and the finale will be a 10 kilometer run along the coastal area that will surely test the endurance of the athletes.
According to Reyes, the registration is now open and it is located already to hundreds of triathletes. He further said that they leveled up to 30 international triathletes that will arrive this August 11 for preparation in behalf of this event.
The triathlon will be categorized into three different groups for either male or female. The winners will receive cash prizes, medals and trophies.
